  • Journal aims and scope: Language & Intercultural Communication promotes an interdisciplinary understanding of the interplay between language and intercultural communication. It therefore welcomes research into intercultural communication, particularly where it explores the importance of linguistic aspects; and research into language, especially the learning of foreign languages, where it explores the importance of intercultural perspectives. The journal is alert to the implications for education, especially higher education, and for language learning and teaching. It is also receptive to research on the frontiers between languages and cultures, and on the implications of linguistic and intercultural issues for the world of work.

Society for Technical Communication (STC), UK and Ireland Chapter

  • Major achievements: The STC is a non-profit professional organisation for professionals who practice the theory of technical communication. It is the largest organisation of its type in the world. As one of the UK and Ireland chapter officers, I have participated a series of board meetings and contributed to important decisions including organisational restructuring processes, not to mention that I have also maintained its jobs board.

British Association for Applied Linguistics & Cambridge University Press (BAAL & CUP Seminar), UK

  • Role: Co-ordinator
  • Period: 2009.03~2009.05
  • Major achievements: I created a website for the BAAL-CUP Seminar “Connecting Discourse: Academic and Professional Worlds” and co-ordinated the seminar with Dr Steve Mann and Dr Sue Wharton in the Centre for Applied Linguistics successfully. The seminar website has been attracted over 1,897 visitors from 35 plus countries including Peru and Zimbabwe since 2009.

Warwick International Postgraduate Conference in Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick, UK

  • Period: 2008.03~2008.06
  • Major achievements: The Centre for Applied Linguistics has held its annual Postgraduate Conference since 1998. I created the conference website and chaired the conference working with two faculty advisors and nineteen student volunteers efficiently. The conference was sponsored by the Centre and world class publishers including Continuum, Equinox, Palgrave MacMillan and Routledge Taylor & Francis Group. It has been recognised as one of the best Postgraduate Conferences by many in the AL community and over 1,002 visitors from 46 countries have visited the conference website so far.

Korean Scientists and Engineers Association in the UK (KSEAUK), UK

  • Major achievements: The KSEAUK is an innovative, non-profit professional organization for Korean scientists and engineers to promote international research collaboration between Korea and the UK. It supports knowledge and education that will underpin engineering and science in the 21st century. I have actively participated in various on-going activities as Regional Representative (Warwickshire & Coventry Region) in the UK.

Warwick University Korean Society (WUKS), University of Warwick, UK

  • Major achievements: The WUKS is one of the most successful national societies at Warwick and there is no doubt that it provides an invaluable support network for many. I organised the New Year’s party and the Welcome Party for newly-arrived Korean students, to help them to find out more about living and studying at Warwick University. I also launched www.warwick.or.kr which has been recognised as one of the best national community websites.

Birmingham University Korean Society (BUKS), University of Birmingham, UK

  • Major achievements: The BUKS is an international student society whose primary aims are to promote its members in cultural, intellectual, social and sporting activities in the University of Birmingham. I was responsible for matters relating to social affairs and for promoting the general welfare of the Society members. In 1998, I designed and launched the first official BUKS website and an on-line forum that provided an invaluable communication channel between its members and prospective students in Korea.
